An accountability court Friday adjourned the hearing of Al-Azizia reference against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif till December 17.
During the hearing, Nawaz Sharif’s counsel presented new documents pertaining to London properties of Hasan Nawaz. Khawaja Harris showed documents of three companies to the court. “We have retrieved documents of three companies, we’ll bring other documents soon,” he said. “These documents reveal that sale and purchase of the property was only business Hasan Nawaz did,” he said, and demanded that the court return the documents after inspection for attestation. “We’ll again submit the documents in the court once they are all authorized,” he added.
The court, after reviewing the documents thoroughly, returned those to the defendants.
A day earlier, Judge Arshad Malik had remarked, “In civil cases, the true owner keeps original records with himself in order to prove his ownership. However, things are quite different in this case as the offender [Nawaz Sharif] possesses properties in someone else’s name, in an attempt to hide his name from the ownership tag.”
