ISLAMABAD: The Nawaz government has started efforts to bring ‘rebellious’ Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada back to the ruling party’s camp. Pirzda on Friday resigned from his post in protest against removal of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera. Pirzada also hurled allegations of corruption on the prime minister’s principal secretary and stated that his authority was curtailed. “The PM’s principal secretary is interfering in my work and is doing rampant corruption. I am not being allowed to perform official duties, as my authority has been cut short,” Pirzada said. According to reports, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Asif Karmani met Pirzada at his residence on Friday to remove his grievances. Representatives of the government told Pirzada that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif valued his honest and stainless personality. Pirzada informed the delegation about his grievances and concerns. On Wednesday, the federal government suspended PSB DG Dr Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera for three months without citing any reason in its notification. Despite repeated attempts to contact PM Nawaz, Pirzada, who is believed to be supporting Ganjera against forceful suspension, did not receive any positive response, leaving him with no other option but to resign. Saad Rafique and Karmani assured Pirzada that his grievances would be addressed.
