Renowned Balochistan scholars have declared gas theft a crime and stressed the need to use gas carefully during winter.
They expressed these views while addressing scholars and media colleagues regarding the security awareness campaign on behalf of the Sui Southern Gas Company during a meeting held at the Quetta Press Club.
Anwar Baloch, Maulana Anwarul Haqqani, Maulana Mohibullah Agha, Mufti Noman, Maulana Matiullah, Maulana Mazhar Liaquat, Balochistan Union of Journalists President Irfan Saeed, Quetta Press Club President Abdul Khaliq Rand and Sui Southern Chief Manager H.S. C. Amir Muhammad Dhotani spoke while system official spokesman Sui Southern Salman Siddiqui gave a speech. Addressing the assembly, General Manager Balochistan Anwar Baloch said that there is no load shedding in the city. To relieve Quetta from low pressure, several projects are being worked on, of which many have been completed at a cost of Rs1,300 million, while work on some projects is in progress.
He said that we will try to meet the scholars and media colleagues not once, but twice or four times a year. Addressing the audience, Maulana Anwarul Haqqani said that in winter, unsustainable gas stoves, old pipes and Gas leaks from clips, which causes deaths, for which stoves and heaters should be closed at night and slept. Maulana Syed Muhibullah Agha said that stealing gas is a sin and scholars should play their role in this awareness campaign. Addressing the organization, he said that they should revise the high bills received by the poor people and give them relief. President of Balochistan Union of Journalists, Irfan Saeed, while complaining to the existing administration of Sui Southern, said that the heavy bills have burdened the people. He said that the people of Balochistan, especially Quetta, should be given relief in terms of bills.
President of Quetta Press Club Abdul Khaliq Rand in his address said that Balochistan produces gas but unfortunately there is gas load shedding in the province. Spokesperson Sui Southern Salman Siddiqui said that a lot of guidance has been obtained from all the suggestions and that efforts will be made to implement them. He further said that the media and scholars have been playing a very important role in this awareness campaign.
