ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday formally launched the Ehsaas Kafaalat Programme to financially empower a total of seven million most-deserving women across the country in three phases.
he card will not only make the beneficiaries able to withdraw monthly cash payment but will also connect them to other initiatives under the Ehsaas programme.
The total numbers of expected Kafaalat beneficiary women are around seven million. Enrolments of one million families in 70 districts have already begun and these families will start receiving Kafaalat stipends from next two months.
More beneficiary families will be added through desk registration and other districts will be covered by end of the year.
The premier, while addressing the event, promised that the state will take responsibility of the underprivileged.
“Seven million women will receive the Kafaalat card which means seven million households will benefit,” said the premier, adding that health cards had already been distributed to six million families, enabling each to seek treatment worth Rs720,000.
All beneficiaries will be able to access the payments at special ATMs and bank branches and will also have the option to deposit funds into a savings account.
