KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday pledged to continue the struggle under the slogan of “roti, kapra aur makaan” (food, clothing and shelter) until the complete eradication of poverty from the country, and said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto laid down their lives while fighting for the rights of the poor and oppressed people of Pakistan.
In his message on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, the PPP chairman said that his party had always supported and protected the interests of poverty-stricken population. “The PPP is the synonym of struggle against poverty and hunger in Pakistan,” he added.
Bilawal directed the party’s manifesto committee to chalk out a revolutionary programme against poverty and said that the PPP would also introduce new programmes like the BISP to reduce poverty when “it will come into power after 2018 elections”.
